Oregon Coast

Another Meghan arranged itinerary and another incredible day. We polished off the rest of the Oregon Coast and came to a stop near Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park in California!

We hike a few trails along the way and pit stopped at some scenic outlooks. Kida got another sip of the ocean at Face Rock, a massive rock feature off the coast that looks like a face coming out of the water.

We also had our first tragedy, a small lizard was crossing the road and I’m sorry to report it did not make it to the other side, resuscitation was not attempted and death was called on scene.

Mere miles later we stopped at the Prehistoric Garden, while it was already pre planned it was nice to honor the lizard by walking through rainforest trails with scale models of dinosaurs. Little known fact about Meghan, while on a trip through Yellowstone with Sierra’s family (sans Sierra due to Covid) she discovered a dinosaur tooth at an archeological dig site and was somehow able to keep it. Ever since she’s been quite the dinosaur buff and was most excited for this particular stop. We had a lovely chat with the woman running the park, and I think she could sense Meghan’s excitement and enjoyed our tales of our current journey because she gifted her the five dollar sticker she was going to buy for free, which was incredibly kind of her.

We had excellent weather and the coastal views throughout the day were absolutely spectacular!
