LA

Leaving Morro Bay we spent one night in Santa Barbara, here we ate more street tacos then any person should in a 24 hour period, and did some chores around the RV. We left bright and early the next day driving down the 1 enjoying costal views and rolling through Malibu and Calabasas before landing in LA.

We arrived at the cutest RV park we have found yet, fully Hollywood themed and chalked full of local art, set props, and murals. The RV park owner was a character and a half, he was very kind and so proud of the community he had created over the last 50 years. He gave us a tour of the grounds and shared many stories and pictures, including one of Jeff Goldblum getting bitten by a potbelly pig in the RV park and him cooking on the master chef set which was located nextdoor to the RV park.

As I was setting up our site I struck up a conversation with our neighbor. He was a partner in a start up dog treat company based out of Finlayson MN! We met his chihuahua Apple and he gifted Kida, Maggie, and Charlie multiple bags of treats! All American Canine was his company making single ingredient freeze dried treats, we can confirm the cats and dog absolutely love the minnows!

We stayed for a few days in LA and ended up renting a little Fiat that we affectionately named Zippy. With our new found maneuverability Meghan plotted a course for us to get a full tour of the LA area. We wandered through an Erewhon, visited Beverly Hills, drove Sunset and Ventura Blvd, saw the Hollywood sign, snagged lunch at Porto’s, a restaurant that’s been on Meghan’s list of must eats for years, and finished the day running some errands. I was informed I got to plan the next day, I had one simple request, a nap. We ate breakfast walked the dog around the park and finally I took my first nap since leaving Duluth. To preface said nap, our cats, despite attempting education in geography lessons and the history of daylight savings, display no evidence of learning, remain argumentative and combative, and insistent on waking us up at 4am for breakfast. Meghan possesses an uncanny ability to simply go back to sleep, I unfortunately do not. Post nap we hit the dog park for Kida and attempted the agility course, she was far more interested in sniffing but eventually, kinda, completed the course. The next day dressed in our Sunday best (Vikings apparel) we set up our TV outside and enjoyed Sunday football in December while getting some sun. Monday we packed up and braved the LA traffic again in the RV, and headed to our Christmas destination, Palm Springs.
