While we were initially plotting course through San Francisco to end up in Monterey, we realized we were very near Napa Valley on the map. After a brief discussion and some a quick searching for a place to park we decided to spend the next two days in wine country.
Meghan has been the primary navigator and route coordinator on our adventures so far, unfortunately the great navigator was still sleeping when I decided 0730 was well past go time, so I plotted a course to Napa Valley and peeled out. I made it about and hour down the road before turning off to head west toward Napa, the navigator now awake quickly snatched the phone and informed me a had chosen the worst possible route. Insistent that it was simply scenic we spent the next hour rolling at about 20 mph through the most impressively curvy road in wine country. The views were in fact incredible, and we drove past countless vineyards nestled into every possible inch of suitable land.
We arrived at Skyline Park quickly set up camp and snagged an uber over to Mumm Napa, a vineyard that specializes in sparkling wine. There we spent a lovely afternoon watching the sunset and participating in our first ever wine tasting.
